Diving Deeper Curriculum
This is a curriculum section for private and homeschool students, though public school students would certainly benefit from it as well. Write up, interactive videos and worksheets coming soon, we aren't sure how the model will need to look for this, it may be this 'Diving Deeper' section will be reserved for donors.
When Life's a Wreck
Set sail with the crew of the Sand Dollar as Joel and Roxy take Grace and Christian to dive into history on the wreck of the Alaska Reefer, previously known as the USS Piñon. Their journey takes them 55 feet down visiting the skeleton of a ship laid down by the US Navy for service in World War II. While in service the USS Piñon served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters tending antisubmarine nets for the allied forces.
Grace and Christian were recently trained to SCUBA Dive, on this trip they join professional divemasters Joel and Roxy Thomas. This wreck is the largest wreck they have been on to date, and challenges their skills as new divers. The team encounters marine life, including clusters of beautiful tube worms, opalescent nudibranch, and numerous fish species. All this and more in God's Garden of giant plumose anemones.
